What is Five Element Acupuncture?
Nature is all around us and the principles of nature are also within.
Five Element acupuncture is a classical form of Chinese medical treatment that began thousands of years ago
and is both powerful and effective. It is not a religion or a belief system, but a way of understanding energy and healing. This style of acupuncture caters to the individual.
The treatment goal is optimum health achieved through balancing and integrating
the body, mind, and spirit.
Within each of us are the Five Elements; Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. The Five Elements are based on the creation and control cycles found in nature. For example, Wood creates Fire, Fire creates Earth, Earth creates Metal, Metal creates Water and Water creates Wood. Each element relates to specific organ systems and are tightly woven partners enabling efficient and effective functioning overall.
The element most related to you is your greatest and weakest strength. In balance, it can bring all elements into balance and when out of balance there is disharmony. If one or two elements are out of balance, the others attempt to compensate. This instability may manifest itself through symptoms such as back pain, depression, weight gain or headaches, just to name a few. The changes are often felt on the physical level first because this
is the most superficial. A physical symptom is often a sign that there is something at a deeper level needing support.
